What would happen if I Installed two 30 watt, 8 omhs speakers in a 85 watt, 8 omhs amp?
Is it bad to have low wattage speakers in a higher wattage amp? Will they blow? Will they sound bad? What are the reprocussions? Im curious because I would like to install two celestion g12h's in my fender twin reverb. I wanna know if itll even work before I attemp to do so. What are the possiblities here? Will I not be able to booste the gain because the speakers will blow? Or will I be able to use multiple effects pedals that booste gain in a fender twin reverb with two celestion g12h 30 watts installed?
in a tube amp, it's critical to match impedance so you wont fry the output transformer or your tubes, in a solid state amp, you will actually get a bit more power with lower impedance. as far as power ratings, lower rated speakers will distort quicker but wont handle the full power of the amp, also gain boost will not affect the output, just the level of pre-amp distortion and finally, sound quality is subjective, if they sound good to you, then they sound good(lol)
