how to be faster at double pedal?
ive look at youtube and how to do a double pedal. some say start with the heel up. so would it just be easier to get fast on the heel?
i can double pedal pretty fast with just the balls of my feet, but i’m still having trouble with the double hit from a single foot.

Well it is a technique just like anything else to do with drumming. I practice by playing 16th notes starting really….reeeally slow and then building up over a period of about 15 minutes to a moderate tempo…staying there for a few minutes adn then try to build up to as fast as possible. You do this every day for a few weeks and you will see the difference in no time. Velocity is a key factor when it comes to double bass drumming and also getting both feet playing at the SAME velocity. If you have been playing using your right foot only on kick then it is bound to be stronger than your left. It takes some time to get the left accustomed to playing with the same force as you lead foot.
Remember though…..playing double bass drums is not ALL about playing as fast as possible. Drumming should be all about musicality and playing what suits the song not just showing off how fast you can play. Chops are WAY more impressive than speed.
*edit…”heel up” is the only really effective way to play double bass drums
